Supporting Family Fun

"Safe and Sane" fireworks are allowed in 180 communities throughout California. Eleven cities in Los Angeles County raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually from fireworks sales. Inglewood community groups should share in this opportunity.

What people are saying

Through the sales of Safe & Sane Fireworks, we were able to make donations to our local Inglewood Youth Football organization, the Inglewood Chargers. We took pride in outfitting them in new uniforms that depicted our team name on their jerseys for their football season.

Wanda Wallace foundation over the years of fun raising has spent the money on back pack give aways, food give aways, college funding for arts and crafts. We also host events like community block parties to help education on arts and team work. Our nonprofit have also coordinated clothing drop boxes for the youth of Inglewood. Wanda Wallace foundation gives back to our community and we cannot do it without the funds raised from fireworks.

For years KDS and Associates has served the city of Inglewood, by providing graduating high school seniors with scholarships to offset the rising cost of higher education. Scholarships remove financial barriers, allowing students who might otherwise be excluded to pursue education or training. That directly supports equity and upward mobility, especially in communities where cost is the main obstacle. The sale of Safe and Sane Fireworks was a valuable fundraiser that greatly benefited the youth in the City of Inglewood, until it was arbitrarily banned, resulting in fewer scholarships and leaving more minority children underserved. Without scholarship funding, fewer students can afford to participate in higher education, especially those from lower-income backgrounds. That can undo years of progress around equity and inclusion and make programs less representative of the community. Scholarship programs invest directly into students. Removing funding for political reasons makes the community less centered and only further hurts those that are already disadvantaged. Residents of Inglewood, we humbly ask that you support the return of Safe and Sane Fireworks, to give our children a better chance for success.

Impartial Analysis

If you vote "YES"

By voting Yes on Measure I, you are supporting the legalization of Safe and Sane Fireworks within the city of Inglewood. This means that, if the measure passes, residents will be able to legally purchase, possess, and use Safe and Sane Fireworks in accordance with regulations set forth by the City Council.

If you vote "NO"

A "no" vote would limit fireworks to only supervised public displays, depriving our city of the joy and excitement they bring. Additionally, local community groups would lose a valuable fundraising opportunity, impacting their ability to support important programs.
